The Light Reactions:

The main goal of the Light reaction is to produce NADph and atp that will be used in the calvin cycle to eventually make glucose for the plant.

1.sunlight excites electrons in photosystem ii and causes them to be picked up and transported to Photosystem i via electron transport proteins. This is called the electron transport chain.

2.H2o is broken up into O, H+, and 2 electrons in Photosystem ii so that

-the electrons given to Photosystem I (from step 1) could be replaced.
the H+ from the broken h2o remain in the thylakoid space and the O is released from the leaf.

3. During the movement of the electrons from PSii to ps1 H+ ions are drawn into the thylakiod from the stroma and causing an increase in H+ concentration within the thylakoid membrane.

4. Once in PSi the electrons are used to make Nadph from nadp+.

5. Due to the high concentration of H+ ions in the thylakoid space, H+ ions move through the enzyme ATp synthase and here Adp is converted into atp.

6. the Atp from the synthase and the nadph molecules from the electron transport chain are then transfered to the calvin cycle to produce glucose!
